About Me

Most of you know me as Shakti and if you didn’t take that “How much do you know about me” quiz on FB (remember those days?), you are probably wondering why this website is called Leela Shakti. As with everything that surrounds me, my name too has a story behind it. I am the first girl born in the family after three generations. So the “enthu” factor around my name was slightly higher than usual. The father had decided to name me “Shakti” after the band, after the Goddess and after the mythological concept, but since my name had to start with a “L” according to my horoscope, I was named Leela Shakti — a name I didn’t quite publicise until recently. I now realise that my birth name is where the eccentricities and paradoxes that make me me start! Why am I eccentric?

I’m a proud adopter of stray animals, inconsistent cook, consistent consumer of good food, love to walk, love to talk, live to write and watch too many movies. Curious about technology and work as a journalist with a Mumbai-based newspaper so that I can buy gadgets, gizmos, perfumes and shoes. I’ve been a radio presenter, a gossip journalist and a baker. Did I tell you that I am an amateur Tarot reader and a moody (not Blues) singer.  I love writing (you might have guessed) and I have a novel coming out soon!
