It’s happening!

Almost every girl grows up dreaming of her perfect wedding. Right from what she’d wear, what flowers would adorn the stage, to the songs she’d want her friends to dance to at her sangeet, she plans it all. Getting me married was an exciting thought for my family, but I focused on one dream – the book release! At age 19, the thought of writing a book was exciting but I didn’t get writing for another four years until 2007. And after having written the book, the hunt for a publisher was just tedious as my hunt for Mr Right had been (that’s a whole different blogpost btw).

Finally, Popular Prakashan agreed to publish my book and after much writing and rewriting, and more rewriting, the manuscript was ready. And then over a cup of coffee at Shivaji Park Barista, I nervously narrated the story of my novel to Vikas Gaitonde who agreed to make me a cover (wheeeeeeee!).

It was all coming true. I had a book coming out; I was getting a pretty cover to go on it. I had an author picture clicked and then I was writing my own bio (thanks for the help with that narcissistic task, Appu).

And now, I am holding a dummy copy of my own book. My name stares at me from the cover. And sometimes I need to pinch myself to make sure this is not a dream.

And like any bride to be, despite the eagerness with which I have awaited this event, I do have a bout of butterflies in the tummy, goose bumps and a general feeling of nervousness. But there is no time for that, so much has to be done! Meanwhile, can somebody give me actor Imran Khan or John Abhraham’s number? I want either of them to release my book, please.
